PML-N to start mass contact campaign in Punjab

LAHORE  –  Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President of Punjab chapter Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday an-nounced the launch of a mass-contact campaign aimed at strengthening and reorganising the party. Speak-ing to the media outside Jati Umra, Sanaullah said he would personally lead the campaign in Punjab and later present a report on its outcomes to party supremo Nawaz Sharif and Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

“For now, the campaign will be limited to Punjab. Once Nawaz Sharif begins touring other provinces, public gatherings will be held there as well,” he said after meeting with the PML-N president.

Responding to a question regarding a recent speculation surrounding the PTI founder, Sanaullah dismissed rumours of any involvement by American doctors in political negotiations. “The American doctors made no mention of his release. It seems they only visited to inquire about his health,” he stated.

Commenting on the political deadlock, Rana Sanaullah said that the PTI founder had previously shown will-ingness to engage with the establishment. “However, talking to the establishment won’t solve anything. If he is ready to speak with political parties, there’s a chance for resolution,” he averred.

On the issue of social media, Sanaullah emphasised that while everyone has the right to express their views, the abusive conduct of what he called the PTI’s “Galam brigade” remains a problem for many. “This behaviour is troubling, and it must be addressed,” he said.

He also criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for failing to represent his prov-ince in a recent meeting attended by the prime minister and representatives of other provinces.  “If the Chief Minister does not represent his own province, he is neglecting his responsibilities,” he remarked.

Sanaullah called for an end to politically motivated cases and urged all political parties to resolve their dif-ferences through dialogue. “We have been advocating for political dialogue since 2018, and we continue to do so. Everyone knows who is unwilling to come to the table,” he said.

Speaking on the water dispute between provinces, the PML-N leader assured that Punjab had no intention of depriving Sindh of its share. “Punjab is neither stealing a single drop of water from Sindh nor planning to do so. The PPP has no option but to protest because nationalist parties in Sindh have created an environ-ment of mistrust,” he explained.

He further said that the PPP, including Bilawal Bhutto, had been assured that the issue of water distribution would be resolved amicably. “Punjab is committed to addressing this matter through understanding and cooperation,” he added.
