DC ramps up efforts to curb overcharging across city
LAHORE – As the holy month of Ramazan enters its final ten days, the District Administration, under the steadfast leadership of Administrator and Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza, has ramped up efforts to curb overcharging across the city, delivering relief to residents. In a series of decisive actions, the administration sealed seven properties, imposed fines exceeding Rs250,000 on 20 individuals, issued five warnings and arrested three offenders. Acting on DC Musa Raza’s directives, Assistant Commissioners have maintained rigorous field monitoring to enforce price controls. The Assistant Commissioner Sadar sealed four restaurants and fined five superstores Rs150,000 for failing to supply goods at designated DC counters. In Chouburji and Multan Road’s Model Rehrri Bazaar, Assistant Commissioner City inspected stalls, issuing warnings to three vendors for not stocking high-quality fruits. Assistant Commissioner Ravi Town conducted checks, levying a Rs15,000 fine, while Assistant Commissioner Allama Iqbal Town inspected Allama Iqbal Road and Choung Bazaar, fining three shopkeepers and ordering two arrests. In Nishtar Zone, the Assistant Commissioner penalised fruit and vegetable stalls for not displaying rate lists and in Raiwind, two shopkeepers faced fines following complaints. Assistant Commissioner Model Town visited Township and Wahdat Colony Bazaar, confirming an ample supply of essentials, while Assistant Commissioner Cantt sealed three chicken shops in Karol Bazaar and fined five shopkeepers.
DC Syed Musa Raza affirmed that the administration is conducting a strict crackdown on overcharging for essential items during Ramazan, with teams actively deployed to combat artificial inflation.
